Learner support

LSE and LSEN support

Understanding the support pathways that help learners grow with confidence, independence and purpose.

Working together

Support that meets learners where they are

LSE and LSEN provide different but connected forms of support. Together, they help identify barriers to learning, provide the right intervention and develop each learner’s potential.

01LSE

Learner Support Educator

Provides additional support to learners who experience learning difficulties.

  • Gives extra support and remedial assistance during school hours.
  • Screens and assesses learners who struggle to meet academic requirements and identifies their educational needs.
  • Focuses particularly on English and Mathematics.
  • Provides smaller class sizes for individualised attention.
  • Helps identify the reasons why learners struggle to grasp concepts.
  • Makes recommendations for support, including possible referrals for further assessment or professional assistance.
  • Works hand in hand with the DBST (District-Based Support Team) to refer learners to LSEN schools when necessary.
02LSEN

Learners with Special Educational Needs

Caters for learners with special educational needs. Our LSEN school caters specifically for learners with MID (Mild Intellectual Disability).

  • Supports learners with educational difficulties or disabilities, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and other learning difficulties.
  • Offers mainstream subjects at differentiated levels, according to learners’ abilities and individual needs.
  • Focuses on a more practical approach to teaching and learning, making content more accessible and relevant.
  • Uses practical, hands-on approaches across the subjects taught, allowing learners to develop skills through real-life applications.
  • Provides smaller class sizes for individualised attention.
  • Prepares learners for transition to prevocational skills schools.
